Colin Smith
What do you do?
I help organisations approach ‘digital’ through masterclasses and workshops across a wide range of digital media, technology and marketing topics. As Google Masterclass partner, I train Google’s own clients in programmatic strategy, mobile marketing and brand solutions, and develop and deliver programmes in areas like data & integrated strategy. I am also learning to become a Lego Serious Play Workshop Facilitator.
When I’m not doing that, I am a co-founder of CambridgeData, a data science specialist recently recognised as one of London’s CreativeTech ‘one’s to watch’, and I previously worked in leadership roles at companies like LinkedIn, Yahoo!, Aol., Advertising.com & The Telegraph.
How do you do it?
I believe that people learn most when doing, and that means I need to set the scene, and get out of the way! The more opportunities I can create for my attendees to contribute, challenge & engage, the better.
Generally, my delivery style is energetic, and I like to introduce some humour where appropriate… I also believe that all this ‘digital’ stuff is pretty simple really, and it doesn’t need to be overcomplicated. I take pride in supporting clients to be able to recognise digital in the context of their own worlds, so they can apply it with confidence.

Why I love what I do?
Many moons ago, I used to think American Football was stupid, and I used to proudly tell every American I ever met. As if inspired by my challenge, an old flame’s Dad (he was from Brooklyn) sat me down to watch the Giants beat the Cowboys, with a few cans of Bud, and taught me everything I needed to know about the sport – he simplified the rules, tactics, and added some history for useful context. I will now proudly argue with anyone about what an amazing sport it is. I want every attendee to come out of my training, having been inspired about the subject, in the same way he inspired me all those years ago.

I develop personal and professional high performance programs. In essence I enable people to consistently function at their best day to day- to achieve Everyday Excellence.
How do you do it?
I have developed innovative ways to help people better understand the nature of their human “system” – how it functions and thus how to manage themselves more effectively. As a former international athlete (Great Britain Rowing Team) and coach to World Championship Medallists, I value and build on the similarity between the ingredients necessary for success in sport and those which allow for optimal performance and fulfilment in our personal and professional lives.
In the coaching space, one of my key strengths is helping clients to recognise and achieve their potential, through breaking down limiting patterns and beliefs. I achieve positive lasting results by utilising my experience as an athlete and coach in high level sport, and this is underpinned by my professional qualifications and experience in Leadership, Cognitive Behavioural Coaching, NLP and EFT.

Why I love what I do?
I love seeing that the work I do makes a lasting positive influence on people’s lives. It is incredibly rewarding to see that the coaching, and tools I give people, enable them to be the best they can be – not only in their professional space, but also in their personal lives. I am a strong believer in the ripple effect – our own “state” of being directly affects the world around us, so it excites me that every person I positively influence will then in turn have a positive effect on those around them.
