Being a new manager my company set me up on few training course's with BEC Development to help me with the upcoming hurdles I was going to face. The courses were extremely helpful and always packed full of information and advice. As I got more and more into my new role I was struggling and sinking fast with the workload and dealing with the team. Helen could see I was overwhelmed and was getting to the point of admitting defeat. I did think my boss had made a mistake in appointing me but Helen could see the potential even if I couldn't, all I needed was a little push in the right direction. So from there I started getting 1:1 coaching sessions. When we would meet I could talk through the issues / problems I was having with the job and where in the past I was told what I wanted to hear, Helen is always able to make me see it from both points and give me sound advice. Not always giving me the answers but making me think through and guide me in the direction I need to go and find the answers.
My team have noticed the change in me and how I do things which has improved our relationships and made the team stronger. I now stand back and think first as it's like Helen is always in the background guiding me, sounds mad.
